Nitan was sitting in Texas (USA) and browsed our website. He loved the idea of having an ice sculpture with the theme of 'Travel' and specifically the shape of the World / Globe - for his wedding. From his e-mails we thought he was getting married in Texas. Wonder if Easyjet go to Texas? Unfortunately not (not Easyjet - Nitan's wedding). However the venue was very Grand indeed - The Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London.
The World/Globe sculpture is a two-ice block carving. It is just impossible to make it from just a single ice block. The sphere of the Globe alone is made from a single ice block. The ice block is cut in two, placed one on top of the other and then the sphere carved/shaped from the two sandwiched half ice blocks. The second block is for the base to hold the structure together. Nitan wanted text CNC'd into the base: "Love Makes The World Go Round". He also wanted his and his wife's initials carved in to the sphere - "NK". All this was possible and we did it. To accommodate his long text, we created a 'fan' shaped base. and placed the text at the bottom.
The Grand Ballroom at The Grosvenor House Hotel is a BIG room situated below ground. It is such a big room they have a lift that can literally take a vehicle down to the room and drive in. At the far end of the room the Wedding co-ordinator set up two bars. The table for the ice sculpture was situated between the two bar tables set-up.
The siting of the Ice Sculpture made it a focal point to the room. Luckily the red lighting behind the sculpture added to image.
