Hot Air Balloon

The World's  first untethered manned flight was performed on 21st November 1873 by two French men;  Jean-Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Francois Laurent d'Arlandes.  They took off from Paris with a large crowd looking on in sheer amazement and excitement.

Like all sports and hobbies, Hot Air Ballooning has its own vocabulary:  The Balloon is called The Envelope; the Standing area is either called The Gondola or The Wicker Basket. Those that fly in it are called 'Brave'!
