Created for a Wedding at the Hilton Hotel in Wembley. The groom wanted TWO elephant heads carved along with his wedding's elaborate logo. The sculpture was to be placed near the entrance to the Grand Ballroom where guests, as they enter would see the Ice Sculpture in all its glory.
One of the Elephant heads was to have a channel drilled through the ice to make it a "Vodka" Luge - although only soft drinks were to be served. The other head was simply an ice sculpture.
The whole structure was created from two ice blocks. As the Wedding 'logo' was quite intricate, it had to be CNC'd. The plotting and then carving took several hours to do. The end result was an exact, 100% precise copy of their logo. The base section was one complete ice block (1m x 1/2m). The two elephants were carved from a single ice block. The total width of the piece was 1m along with the total height being an impressive 1m tall. This was a heavy isc sculpture.
Placing the sculpture in front of an expansive window let the light in and 'back lit the entire sculpture. When the pictures and video were taken, the sculpture was still 'frosted'. If we had hung around until the frosting had disappeared, the whole piece would have looked magnificent and very, very impressive. The light would gleam through the crystal clear ice creating a magical and spectacular sight.
We lit the Elephant Heads using a technique of refraction with several very bright lights behind and around the ice. During the day, natural sunlight is much, much stronger than the lights we could ever use. As a result, as dusk approached the lights would then be turned on and then the refraction, the bending of the light could truly be seen and come into its own. The sculpture would then 'come alive', be vibrant and 'have a life of its own'.
The groom text us and said:
"Hi Chris, the luge went down extremely well and looked amazing! Thank you to you and your team!"
