Two Ice Sculpture Clam Shells carved from a single ice Block (100x50x25cm). With this Clam Shells ice sculpture we literally cut the ice block in half and then in half (lengthways) again to form 4 ice (tray-like) blocks. From here we then carved the scalloped edges. The mechanics and technical carving was exactly the same as per carving one large Clam Shell. Here we obtained two. One large Clam shell is great for a big impressive display. If you have multiple food displays to create - different sized prawns, shrimp or even lobsters, two clam shells might be better.
One important factor to remember and provide on the day for the drain tray, is lots and lots of crushed ice for the bed. The two Clam shells need to be absolutely level. To obtain a 100% level based (we use spirit levels to get this right) the bottom clam shell is rocked back and forth to obtain a perfect level. Once this has been achieved, the upright clam shell can be put in place.
These two Clam Shells were used for a Wedding buffet. The Seafood buffet was not complete / finished when we took the photos (my apologies to the Seafood caterers whom came all the way up from Looe in Cornwall to create a spectacular seafood display). As they say, one eats with ones eyes. A Clam shell or two will make an enormous difference to your party or event if you wish to wow your guests and give them something different and spectacular.
