The Panther was first described and named in 1816 by the German Naturalist - Oken. Today the Panther is part of the big cat group  consisting of Jaguars, Lions, Leopards and Tigers.  All impressive and beautiful (but deadly) creatures. Used to decorate ornate pottery and jewelery, the Panther is seen as something to indicate luxury, exclusiveness and something with great sex-appeal.
