MOD Corsham (Wiltshire) wanted to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain with a spectacular and impressive Ice Sculpture (not Vodka Luge) for their Dinner Dance / Mess Ball.
They could have chosen a 1 /2 ice block carving; but no, they wanted it to be BIG, BOLD and VERY impressive. The chose to have a Spitfire roaring through the skies of the south of England but created from 2 -ice blocks.
Two ice block carvings is VERY impressive, very commanding and something to look-up to. The sheer height of the sculpture compels one to look up at the round RAF badge on each wing. We lit each wing-up with very bright LED lighting - spot lighting the badge in alls its patriotic glory.
This Ice Sculpture was set dead centre of the room. Everyone sitting around the sculpture was continually reminded why they were there - a celebration of the heroes and those that sacrificed their lives - embodied in the iconic Spitfire.
