Having created Vodka Luges for the clothing company Jack Wills, they approached us and asked if we could create a couple of oars for their Henley Regatta pop-up Bar. After looking through many designs and shapes, they settled upon crossed oars - Henley Regatta Crossed Oars. During the planning and research stage we discovered oars aren't just oars. There are quite a few designs! The Oars we carved are fast speed competition rowing oars - as used in the London Boat Race too!
The Vodka Luge stood 1m tall and 1/2m wide with a single channel drilled through the ice for the Aqua Vita to flow. The design was carefully drawn-out to scale, traced onto the ice, then with chainsaws and power tools the ice was carved away to leave the basic design of the two oars. Chisels and scrapers were then used to finish off the outline and finer details.
