Golden Temple Amritsar.
Cindy and Paul rang us regarding their daughter's up-coming wedding at the beautiful Royal Court Hotel in Keresley, Coventry. At their previous daughter's wedding the Taj Mahal was carved. This time they wanted something different but along th same theme. After discussing various options and ideas, Cindy came back a few days latter and asked if we could carve the famous Golden Temple Amritsar.
Golden Temple Amritsar also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib (Abode of God) is a Gurdwara (a Sikh place of worship) situated in the Punjabi city of Amritsar in northern India. It is one of the holiest Gurdwara and most important pilgrimage sites of Sikhism.
The dimensions of Golden Temple Amritsar as a design did not fall in line with the dimensions of an ice block (1m x 1/2m x 1/4m). As a result, we had to make a small compromise. The final width of the Golden Temple was 3/4m. To compensate for not using the complete width of the ice block, we raised the actual height of the Ice Craving by 1/4m by placing an ice plinth base underneath the finished sculpture. This gave it an extra boost in height and used a full ice block.
Golden Temple Amritsar was lit by two very bright LED lights. In front of the Temple Ice Sculpture Cindy and Paul asked if we would display some fruit for them. This we did using several trays and different heights dsiplayin; oranges, kiwi fruit, mangoes, pineapples, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, honeydew melon, apples and other fruit.
