The FIFA World Cup
World Cup fever gripped the nation in 2014. Brazil hosted the Tournament. The first match to be played by England was surely going to be won... by England (naturally?) We couldn't lose...could we?
To boost morale we were asked to create a replica of the World Cup in ice - and make it a Vodka Luge (to celebrate, of course). History is history, so let's not dwell on the final score. At least our Ice World Cup won over the crowd.
The World Cup (or correctly called The FIFA World Cup) is held once every four years and is open to nations to participate. Although FIFA was formed in 1904, the first World Cup was actually held in 1930 in Uruguay and then every four years there after (except in 1942 and 1946 due to the World War situation).
It is claimed to be the most watched sporting tournament in the world with an estimated cumulative audience of 26.29 billion - far bigger than the Olympic games. The Final of the World Cup drew-in an estimated 715 million viewers - one ninth of the entire population of our small blue planet.
