The Hindu wedding ceremony is performed under a Mandap (a sanctified alter), which is erected to represent the universe and is a sacred place of worship.
The four posts in the corners symbolizes the four stages of life:
- Childhood
- Youth
- Marriage
- Old age
The actual ceremony is a collection of rituals performed by the bride and groom, their parents and close relatives. During the rituals, the priest recites Mantras (sacred verses) from the Holy Sciptures.
Ice sculptures can play a role in the whole ceremony bringing a new and exciting dimension to the wedding and ceremony. Lord Ganesh is a very popular ice sculpture we carve for Hindu weddings. It is by no means the only ice sculpture one could use.
During the ceremony the priest will use a variety of objects and items, for example, Fresh Flowers (to signfy purity and beauty), Coconuts (to symbolize fertility), rice grains, Fire, Ghee and Vermillion. With imagination and how YOU want to symbolize your wedding we can create just about any piece you desire: Flowers (real or not) frozen in ice, coconuts (again real or symbolic), Fire...or even symbols of Childhood, youth, marriage and old age.
The Hindu ceremony is steeped in rituals, tradition and set procedures. The items in your wedding can be brought right up-to-date with an old and modern medium - ice.
