Those excited about ice carving will find this an amazing opportunity to showcase their talents. This is actually a great time to take a regular vacation down at Branson considering the exceptional ice sculptures that you’ll get to see here.

About the Competition

As documented in this PRnewswire report, the National Ice Carving Competition Championship is regarded as one of the most challenging competitions around the world. Three premier winners are crowned at the end of this battle and consequently awarded the titles of Professional Division Champion (U.S.), Speed Carving Champion, and U.S. National Champion. The nationals will be held over two days in February of 2012 and the most talented ice carvers in the United States are predicted to make an appearance here to join in the championship. The tournament has been held since 1991 and from the year of its inception it has been a matter of great prestige for ice carving lovers to win this national championship. The appealing prize of $25,000 will definitely attract a large crowd to Branson this February.

Event Schedule

The two day competition is going to have contestants working in two divisions- the Master Division as well as the Professional Division. Those in the Master Division will work on three blocks of ice on the 1st day of the event and 1 block on the next day. For the ice carvers in the Professional Division, one ice carving on the 1st day will be followed by 2 the following day. The entrants can choose from numerous tools to develop their masterpieces including chisels, chainsaws, hot irons, blowtorches, knives and also drills. Each block of ice will be measured and weighed before the participants begin working their magic on them to guarantee that they all get comparable fundamental materials in the first place. NICA judges are going to be examining the work of the various contributors using a pre determined set of guidelines. These parameters include things like usage of ice, awareness of detail, technical skill and creativity. There are many elements that’ll be evaluated within each parameter so the texture, effects, theme and structural technique will be crucial. The victors are going to be identified on the basis of the aggregation of the judges’ opinions concerning their works.
